NBA 2K20 players that want to be part of this season's NBA 2K League have to complete several stages in the tryout process. The Combine stage required players to complete at least 40 matches in at least one position during the allotted time. Those who managed to do it already proved that they are great players with superior skills but the tryouts are not over yet. Now they must prove that they have what it takes to be part of the League.

This next stage is called Player Identification Process. Only those who completed the previous condition will be considered for this phase. This is an evaluation process that will single out the best League candidates. The player's skills and statistics are evaluated. Statistics include parameters such as how long players held the ball, how efficient was their defense, and so on. Long story short, every aspect of the player's performance is put under scrutiny. Another thing that is evaluated is the application that was provided during the qualifier stage. The purpose of this process is to identify 175 players. They will take part in interviews with the League's officials.

All players who were part of the Combine stage will get a notification. Those who are selected as the 175 candidates, will get an email. A phone interview will be programmed. After all 175 players are interviewed, 150 will be selected. This process is expected to take place in the second week of 2020. The 150 players that are selected will enter the draft pool.

However, there are more than 150 players in the draft pool. This will include players from team-hosted tournaments that took place in the off-season. There will also be players from European Invitational tournaments. The 53 players from last season that were un-retained will be in this season's draft pool as well. The draft is the process through which teams select their players. The NBA 2K League draft process is similar to the NBA draft. Teams take turns picking their members.

The draft rules will be announced as the draft approaches but we expect them to be the same as for the past seasons. In the first season, the draft used the original equipment that is used in the NBA draft. The NBA 2K League is going strong in its third season. The first two seasons were a success and we expect nothing less from season three. Twenty-three NBA teams are part of the league. There were 17 in the first season and we expect them all to join for the next one.
